During my trip to Switzerland, I wrote down my thoughts and shared some of them with you in my previous newsletters. I also took some random images with my iPhone, and once I got home, I started thinking about whether I wanted to do something more with the material.

I’ve always loved zines and the kind of background insight they offer into a project, so I decided to create a small publication. The upcoming photobook festival organized by the Pennings Foundation in Eindhoven—taking place on May 24—also gave me an extra push.

There, I’ll be sharing a table with my friend and colleague Boris Hamilton. We’ll both bring our books, zines, and prints. The zine will be launched on that day.

This zine brings together notes and images. I made this trip as part of my ongoing project ‘In Search of Nijinsky’—a personal exploration inspired by the life and inner world of Vaslav Nijinsky.

Nijinsky was a world-renowned dancer in the early 1900s, celebrated for his revolutionary performances. But his life took a tragic turn when his mental health began to decline. In the final weeks before his institutionalization, he stayed near Saint Moritz, walking in the mountains, speaking to trees, and writing intensely in his diary—searching for clarity as his grip on reality slipped away.

He sensed what was coming. After traveling to Zurich for examination, he was admitted to the Bellevue Clinic in Kreuzlingen. He never danced, wrote, or painted again. Silence followed.

‘In Search of Nijinsky’ is not a biography or documentary. Those already exist. My work is a personal response—a visual and emotional attempt to understand what might have stirred inside him when his body was no longer his main instrument of expression.

This project will eventually become a book, which I hope to publish by the end of this year or early 2026.

Creating this zine also inspired ideas for the book itself—both in terms of design and editing—so it turned out to be a useful step in between.

The zine is now available for pre-order through my website, or feel free to send me a message via email or WhatsApp.
Shipping starts the first week of June 2025.
